The 16U division is tiered in A or B divisions.
The Alberta Lacrosse Association has announced a full 16U 'A' league that will be implemented for the 2020 box playing season. The new league will focus on an inter-connected schedule that will see each Alberta 16U 'A' team play every other 16U 'A' team twice during the regular season - one home game and one away game.
This new schedule will provide players and teams with a variety of competition, increase the importance of each game and free up the weekend for teams to travel to out of province tournaments. The league will endeavour to schedule games in conjunction with Junior A and B games to increase the exposure of players to Junior level coaches and enhance mentorship of officials.
Teams will use the same boundaries that are in place for their local governing bodies. Players that do not have a 16U 'A' team in their area must follow the current transfer policies in place to try out for an 'A' team. Teams in the leagues are as follows:
The 16U 'A' league will play a 16-game schedule. All teams at the end of regular season will proceed to the Provincial weekend. The top five teams will proceed to the Gold Championship and the bottom four to the Silver Championship.
The 'B' division teams could play on any night of the week, including weekends as you could be playing teams from Grande Prairie and Westlock.
All 16U games may start between 6:00pm and 9:00pm and ending from 7:30pm and 10:30pm. Games are 1.5 hours long.
**NOTE: All girls 16U teams will play against all the other all girls teams in the league and could play any day of the week, including weekends.
